The automotive reviewer at Forbes writes: “[The 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD] looks like it’s ready for war, but as a driver and passenger in this vehicle, we can tell you that the ride is very smooth and comfortable. Once again, I think it outperforms the Ford Super Duty. Perhaps partially from the sheer size and scope of this truck from the outside, ride comfort level is just so surprising. It’s the best automotive juxtaposition in any truck I’ve seen so far.”
The 2021 Sierra 2500HD is available in five trim levels: base, SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali. The Base and SLE models are offered with regular, Double, or Crew cabs. The SLT is available in Double and Crew cab configurations. The AT4 and Denali trim can only be had as a Crew cab. There are two bed sizes: standard (6.8 feet) and long (8.2 feet).
All models have a choice between a 6.6-liter V8 that generates 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque, teamed to a six-speed automatic transmission and a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel that cranks out an incredible 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque, matched to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Properly equipped, the Sierra 2500HD has a maximum towing capacity of 14,500 pounds.
Standard features for the base 2021 Sierra 2500 HD include 17-inch steel wheels, manual door locks, vinyl floor covering, LED exterior lighting, air conditioning, manually adjustable front seats, a height-adjustable steering wheel, a rearview camera, a bed step, a corner step and a cargo area light. Also standard is a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB ports.
