The 2020 GMC Yukon XL is an extended version of the GMC Yukon. This full-size traditional body-on-frame SUV features an enormous interior with three rows of seating. Customers at dealers like the Salinas area GMC dealership can select one of two powerful V8 engines. Buyers looking for towing power will be impressed with the Yukon XL’s maximum tow rating of over 8,000 pounds. And the Yukon XL does all this with amenities you won’t find on some competing vehicles.
With the available front bench seat, the 2020 Yukon XL can seat nine passengers. According to the GMC dealer near Salinas, the Yukon XL has more cargo space behind the third row than its Yukon sibling, with 39.3 cubic feet when the third row is in use and a total of 121.7 cubic feet of cargo space.
The powerful and versatile GMC Yukon XL can handle the toughest jobs, whether crawling over off-road trails, or towing a trailer or a boat for a weekend getaway. And while the Yukon XL has plenty of brawn, it’s also a comfortable daily driver.
CarBuzz came away impressed by the 2021 GMC Yukon XL, writing: If you're looking for a massive box on wheels, the GMC Yukon XL is the type of extra-large SUV that can seat up to nine people and still carry luggage along, too. ... Underpinned by the same architecture that holds the Cadillac Escalade and Chevy Tahoe together, the GMC Yukon XL is a decent towing machine with plenty of variations to suit almost everyone.
The 2020 GMC Yukon XL comes in three trim levels: SLE, SLT and Denali. Seating for eight is standard, but buyers can choose an available front bench seat on the SLE trim that increases the total capacity to nine. The optional second-row bucket seats bring that number to seven.
Powering the 2020 GMC Yukon XL is a standard 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This setup gets standard rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive. The Denali gets a 6.2-liter V8 that cranks out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, teamed to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is available in the SLT as part of the Graphite Edition package.
Standard features on the base SLE trim include 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. Also standard is a trial of the OnStar telecommunications service with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi.
The SLT trim comes with leather upholstery, power-adjustable pedals, a tilt/telescope steering wheel and a power tailgate. Also standard is the Enhanced Driver Alert Package, which adds automatic emergency braking, forward-collision mitigation and lane-departure warning.
The Denali trim features the upgraded engine, perforated leather upholstery, a hands-free tailgate, adaptive suspension, heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up display, wireless charging, navigation, and an upgraded Bose stereo system with active noise cancellation.
