The 2020 Sierra 2500HD is completely redesigned and is offered in five trim levels: base, SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali. All models can be equipped with either a 6.6-liter V8 engine that develops 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque, teamed to a six-speed automatic transmission, or a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel that cranks out 445 hp and 910 lb-ft, mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The Sierra 2500HD’s redesign brings increased towing and hauling capacity. It can now tow up to 35,5000 pounds.
The Duramax diesel V8 comes with an integrated engine-exhaust brake. Drivers can press a button and use the powerplant’s backpressure to control the truck’s speed while descending a hill. This reduces the load on the Sierra 2500HD’s brakes. The exhaust brake also works in tandem with the cruise control system, allowing the vehicle to maintain a set speed when driving on hilly roads.
The base Sierra comes configured as a basic model, but it includes standard features such as Bluetooth connectivity and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The SLE trim comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a color info screen. Options include the ProGrade Trailering system.
