Doubling Down On Diesel With GM

Monday, September 18th, 2017

Come back in time with Cardinale GMC. Rewind to 2015 when VW was the sales leader for mainstream-diesel powered vehicles in the US. The biggest competitor was, you guessed it, GM. They started with the second-generation Cruze and GM declared their goal was becoming the market leader for passenger diesel. You’d think diesel would be on its way out of the U.S. when VW got into some trouble. But our Cardinale Automotive Group is happy to announce the future of diesel is still fresh on our minds.

Bye Bye VW, Hello GM!

GM hasn’t forgotten about the diesel technology. They’ve actually recently launched the Chevy Colorado, Cruze and GMC Canyon with diesel. They also announced earlier this year that they’ll be adding a new 1.6-liter “whisper diesel” to two of their most popular crossover vehicles: the Chevy Equinox and our very own GMC Terrain.

Get Your Own At Cardinale GMC

While we might not have a dealership full of diesel vehicles here in Seaside California, we do have a wide range of new and used options to choose from. You can search our website from the comfort of your home before scheduling a time to meet with someone on our team. Online you’ll be able to refine your search to look for specific engine types, color, year, make and model. That’s right, we have a whole array of options at Cardinale GMC. We’re confident you’ll fall in love with something, whether it’s diesel or gas powered. Make us your go-to dealership for all of your vehicle needs.

The 2017 GMC Acadia – Denali Style

Monday, August 28th, 2017

If you’re looking for luxury without paying top dog pricing for a midsize SUV, you need to come see us at Cardinale GMC. We have a fully redesigned 2017 Acadia that has top of the line features. It’s the Denali and boy is she a pretty little thing.

Basics About The Acadia

Our Cardinale Automotive Group has had the Acadia around for nine years and we were pleased to welcome the full redesign for 2017 models. It’s a bit smaller and lighter than before but what you lose in size is made up for with other improvements. It also means it’s easier to maneuver in and out of parking lots. It drives around turns more confidently, too. The V6 is still available, as is all-wheel drive, but it has a newly available four-cylinder engine which we’ve seen has helped to improve its fuel economy.

Four Trim Levels – Denali Being The Top Dog

Some of our GMC California customers prefer the base model, while others prefer the new All Terrain model. For those looking for top-of-the-line, the Denali is where it’s at. It comes with a unique grille, 8” touchscreen, heated and power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, navigation, hands-free power liftgate, polished wheels and Xenon headlights. You can also add the Technology package to get adaptive cruise control with automatic collision preparation, as well as a surround-view camera system. It really is the best of the best and you can’t go wrong with this trim.

More Denali Models To Choose From At Cardinale GMC

If you like the sound of the Acadia Denali you’ll love other vehicles we have available with the Denali emblem. Our Sierra, Terrain, Yukon and Yukon XL all come with a Denali option. Once you climb inside, you’ll see why this is anything but basic. We look forward to showing you what it’s all about at Cardinale GMC.

Guide To Buying A 2016 GMC Terrain

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Picking out a new vehicle can be a daunting task, especially if you’re in the market for something preowned. There are just too many options on the market today! Cardinale GMC wanted to give an overview of our 2016 Terrain in case it’s on your top 5 list, which Cardinale GMC California hopes it is.

What’s To Love

Our Terrain has been around for seven years now. It’s classed in the small-to-midsize crossover line and has grown in popularity. It stands out because of its unique square-shouldered body and larger-than-average size. You’ll enjoy a comfortable and quiet ride thanks to the powerful V6 engine. This crossover won’t feel too big but has plenty of room for your extra stuff, a whole family or both.

Performance Details

A standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder comes in the base model. Upgrade to the SLE-2, SLT or Denali with a 3.6-liter V6. Both of these engines also have a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional on all trim levels except the SL but front-wheel drive comes standard there.

What’s Inside

It might look truck-like from the outside but the interiors are anything but rugged. The dash has bright red back lighting highlighting in the controls and gauges. It’s a sight to see during nighttime driving. Some of the features to ask about are Bluetooth streaming audio, the 7” color touchscreen, noise-killing components, standard sliding rear seat and 63.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

Buy Used With Cardinale GMC

Our Cardinale automotive group loves our brand new vehicles but there’s something special about buying preowned. Come see us today so we can tell you more about the 2016 Terrain as well as any other used vehicle. If Cardinale GMC doesn’t have what you’re looking for on site, we’ll do what we can to find one for you.

Get Your Vehicle Serviced Before Heading Back To School

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017

Can you believe it’s already time to go back to school? Our Cardinale Automotive Group knows how busy you’ll be once student mode kicks in. Hectic schedules, studying, sports and social events don’t leave much time to have your vehicle serviced. So, before you head back for another great year, Cardinale GMC recommends scheduling an appointment for a multi-point inspection.

But Is Regular Maintenance Really Necessary?

Absolutely. Think of how often you depend on your vehicle. Running errands, driving to class, going to work. Routine maintenance like tire rotation and oil changes are important but there are other things you might not think of that should be checked regularly. A multi-point inspection at Cardinale GMC California includes checking your windshield wipers, brakes and fluid levels, so make sure to add it into your schedule before heading off to school.

Maybe You Just Need A New Vehicle Altogether

Some students decide not to take a vehicle to school right away. If you’re ready to have a vehicle on campus or have decided to live off campus this year, we can help you pick the perfect ride. We offer a wide range of new GMC vehicles as well as quality preowned options. Whether it’s the Acadia and Terrain SUVs that catch your eye or a Canyon pickup truck, our Sales team is here to help you weigh pros and cons so you choose the perfect vehicle for your needs.

Once you’ve selected the right set of wheels, our Finance Team will assist in the next step. We know a student’s budget might be tight so we will do what we can to ensure you drive away in something you not only love, but can afford, too.

Get Campus Ready At Cardinale GMC

Whether you need service or a new vehicle, the entire Cardinale GMC Team is ready for you. Our Service Technicians will make sure your vehicle is “campus-ready” before heading off for a successful school year. And if a new ride is on your mind, we want to be the first stop on your list.

A Leisurely Weekend Antiquing With Cardinale GMC

Tuesday, August 15th, 2017

If you have nothing to do this weekend but don’t want to sit around at home, Cardinale GMC suggests antiquing! Our Seaside Cardinale automotive group loves checking out the Cannery Row Antique Mall. It’s fun taking a trip down memory lane as you discover unique items that might be old news to one person but a new treasure to you.

Go Back To The Future At Cannery Row

Cannery Row is a historic building that was once a canning company back in the 1927 Steinbeck era. It houses over 100 antique dealers showcasing their vintage goods. We really enjoy that they’ve kept much of the machinery and original structure. Professional Antique Mall Magazine voted it the Antique Mall of the Year and it’s also the largest antique and collectibles mall on the central coast.  You could spend a whole day exploring!

In-Person Antiquing Over Internet Finds

We live in an internet-driven world these days but there’s just something different about browsing in person. In-person antiquing allows you to get a hands-on feel of the item rather than hoping it’s the real deal when it comes in the mail. Also, no shipping charges! Some dealers will even bargain with you on the price. We spend way too much time online and it’s fun to see things from your childhood that you might have forgotten about. Heck, you might even take things home you wouldn’t be necessarily think to search for on the internet.

Nothing Antique Here At Cardinale GMC

Antique vehicles are great but sometimes new is the way to go. If you’re in the browsing mood, head in to see us at Cardinale GMC. Seaside California is right down the road from the Cannery Row Antique Mall. Although we prefer seeing you in person, feel free to check out our inventory at www.cardinalegmc.com.

GMC Has Something Sweet On Their Mind

Thursday, August 10th, 2017

Our beloved General Motors had to delay the development of their next-generation crossovers when the automotive industry took a downward turn about a decade ago. Well, it’s time to pick up where we left off. Cardinale GMC can’t wait to tell you what sweet stuff in store and which vehicles are going to be joining our Seaside auto mall in the near future.

A Lot Of Changes For The Better

  • Compact SUV – We might see a new off-road vehicle in 2020 to compete with Jeep. It would be based off the Chevy Colorado.
  • Acadia – It shrank in size for 2016 but in 2020 it will be due for updates and hopefully a nine-speed transmission.
  • Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban/Yukon XL – This is a popular vehicle class in today’s market. All four received a 10-speed transmission, trim enhancements and style changes this fall but they will all be redesigned in 2020 to continue dominated over Ford.
  • Canyon – Last year this pickup got an 8-speed transmission and new engine. We also welcomed the heavy-duty off-roading Colorado ZR2 this spring. Next year we’re looking forward to the expected technology and styling updates.
  • Sierra 1500 – Next fall we will see the next generation of this pickup. The styling might not be greatly different but we’re hoping for improvements in capability and technology. We’re pumped for a diesel option, too!
  • Terrain – This gem has been redesigned and is trickling into dealerships as we speak. You now have the choice between a 1.6-liter turbodiesel or turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 9-speed transmission. It has new styling, is 400 lbs lighter and 5” shorter. We’re excited to show off the new push-button shifter as well.

Change With Us At Cardinale GMC

Cardinale GMC gets really excited when our Cardinale automotive group gets to show off new models. Continue to check www.cardinalegmc.com for updates and feel free to stop in for a visit to hear more about what’s to come!

What To Do When Those Pesky Rodents Attack Your Engine Bay

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017

Cardinale GMC can see it now. You just brought your vehicle in for a oil change and everything checked out great. You get home and two weeks later the check engine light appears. What now? You think to yourself. Well, CardinaleGMC California might have an idea and it’s probably not one you’d think about.

Rodents Make Your Vehicle Their Home

Chipmunks and mice can get into very small areas, especially if there’s something in there that they want. Your engine compartment is the perfect place to store food, keep warm or sharpen their teeth. Say what? Yes, they often do that on your wires and hoses but that can pose problems for you, causing the engine light to come on out of nowhere. Here are a few tips to prevent unwanted guests.

  1. Clean up after yourself – we all snack on the go so make sure to take the trash with you and try not to leave crumbs all over the place. Rodents can smell the tiniest of crumbs, making them move from the engine compartment to inside your vehicle.
  2. If you park near a wooded area be on the lookout for signs of a rodent. They might leave acorns or droppings around your vehicle. If you see them, pop the hood and check to make sure there’s nothing on the inside, too.
  3. If you go on an extended vacation or have a second, weekend ride, drive it every now and then. A stationary vehicle is even more appealing than something that’s used every day.
  4. Moth balls and traps might be a good idea if you can’t seem to get rid of these pesky critters.

Check Things Out At Cardinale GMC

Our Cardinale automotive group knows that nature is nature and things are bound to happen no matter how prepared you think you are. When the rodents win, bring your vehicle in to see us at Cardinale GMC. You can conveniently schedule a service appointment at www.cardinalegmc.com.

There’s A New Shifter In Town

Friday, August 4th, 2017

Cardinale GMC loves when new technology comes to town, especially when it’s so near and dear to our hearts. If you haven’t heard already, Cardinale GMC California will be welcoming EPS to our 2018 Terrain. We want to share a little bit more about what this feature is and when you’ll be able to try it out.

Don’t Confuse This EPS With The Other EPS

EPS is typically short for Electric Power Steering but GMC wasn’t trying to confuse you by shortening the new gear selector to also be EPS. This one stands for Electronic Precision Shift. It’s a new button-and-switch system being introduced in the 2018 GMC Terrain, which our Cardinale automotive group hopes to welcome later this summer.

 –

So, How Does It Work?

GMC backs this EPS as being easy and intuitive to use. Rather than having a stick-like gear switcher, this is set up as a row of buttons and switches. You can find them at the bottom of the Terrain’s center stack. From left to right, park, reverse, neutral, drive and low selectors that control the nine-speed automatic transmission. Most are buttons but the reverse and drive functions are engaged by pulling on switches. They resemble a lot of the power-window controls you’re use to.

But What If…

  • Park is pushed while driving – If going more than 3 mph, a message pops up saying the function is not possible, and nothing happens to the transmission. If going 3 mph or under, the emergency brake comes on first then the vehicle shifts into park.
  • A passenger pulls the reverse while driving on the highway – you automatically switch into neutral.
  • Get out of the vehicle and leave it running in reverse – emergency brake first then park. If vehicle is off and left in reverse, it automatically switches over to park.

Test It Out Soon At Cardinale GMC

The staff here at Cardinale GMC is anxiously awaiting the 2018 Terrain to arrive. Keep checking www.cardinalegmc.com for updates on our 2018 inventory!

Stay Safe Year Round With These Emergency Essentials

Thursday, August 3rd, 2017

When the summer season is here, vacation has begun, and your 100 miles from Seaside California, those of us at Cardinale GMC will bet vehicle trouble isn’t on the top of your to-do list. Breaking down never comes at a good time so it’s always suggested to have a backup plan just in case. Here are a few basics to make sure are always in your trunk.

Emergency Essentials

  • Some of the basic tools – Torque wrench to set nuts, utility knife, screwdriver if something came loose from age or vibration.
  • Bungee cords & tow rope – Bungee cords will secure items to the rooftop and a rope can be tied to another vehicle to pull yours to safety.
  • Phone charger – Most people have these already but if not, get one. If you don’t have a USB port, get a cigarette lighter adapter instead.
  • Snacks and water – Both are important in an emergency if you’re stuck and have to wait for help. A big jug of water per person is essential during extreme temperatures.
  • Jumper cables – If you don’t already have a set, put jumper cables or a portable battery in your trunk. More importantly, know how to use them!
  • Light sticks and warning triangles – Day or night, you want to ensure other motorists can see you. No batteries needed so these can just be kept in the trunk for when you least expect to need them.

Stay Even Safer By Choosing Cardinale GMC

Our Cardinale automotive group will always support the “better safe than sorry” motto. A boatload of our vehicles are available with OnStar which will ease your worry even more in case of an emergency. Browse our inventory at www.cardinalegmc.com before coming in to see us at Cardinale GMC.

Join Forces For Our Armed Forces With GMC

Thursday, July 27th, 2017

Veterans of our Armed Forces have given up a lot for our country. They answered the call so now it’s our turn to help give back. Together, Cardinale GMC will enlist to help unlist them. Want to learn what you can do? Let our Cardinale Automotive Group tell you how.

Building For America’s Bravest

There are far too many catastrophically injured service members who are coming back from deployment to homes that due to their injuries, no longer meet their needs. Simple tasks like taking a shower or cooking dinner are near impossible for a lot of these veterans. Each person has a different need so that’s why each home is unique, tailored specifically to each recipient.

Unfortunately, these heroes have been waitlisted for new homes. That’s why GMC has decided to partner with Building for America’s Bravest to help build 200+ homes to transform the lives of our most deserving. Building for America’s Bravest is a proud program of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. GMC is lending a helping hand to these veterans as they transition back to civilian life and regain their independence as smoothly as possible.

We are grateful to hear 22 of these specialized homes have been built over the last four years. But that’s not enough. There are still hundreds of injured service members on the waitlist, anxiously awaiting a new home. We’re happy to announce that 22 more projects have been approved for construction and that’s why we’ve decided to enlist to help unlist these very deserving heroes.

Help Us At Cardinale GMC

GMC California is asking our customers, employees, enthusiasts and anyone else willing, to help Building for America’s Bravest continue building these much-needed smart homes. Call or visit us at Cardinale GMC to learn how you can help. While you’re here feel free to checkout our new and used vehicle inventory, also available to see at www.cardinalegmc.com. We thank you in advance for any big or little donation you can make to this incredible foundation.
