Introducing the 2017 GMC Acadia

Friday, April 29th, 2016

mm_gal_item_c2_6.img_resize.img_stage._0

GMC vehicles are known for two things; first, they look mean and butch, second, they are safe and powerful. The unmatched road presence of a GMC simply cannot be argued with. Along these lines comes the Acadia, a mid sized variant SUV. It is rather large, just that by GMC standards, it is mid sized!

Right away, you will see that GMC has put some real effort into the styling of the all-new Acadia. While holding on to their signature chunky styling and massive front grille that seems to always smile menacingly at you, it seems a lot more rounded off. It is a deviation from their usual straight lines. It seems almost softer, a bit more calm, and a little less angry. It also weighs a massive 700 pounds less than the previous one. The year’s update also brings in a new all wheel drive variant, which is a welcome addition. The Acadia is a perfect fit for anyone who likes to be surrounded in automotive luxury, but wouldn’t mind the occasional mud in the tires. It is also has five different trims and models to choose from with the AWD focused on off-roading being the one on top, it is also the one to look out for when you visit the Cardinale GMC center. The Denali version is obviously the highest priced as well as most luxurious of them all, in case you were wondering.

GMC’s Transmission Variants

Monday, April 25th, 2016

eerg

A car’s transmission is important; in fact, it is among the most important part as far as running of a motor vehicle is concerned. For the uninitiated, the simplest way to explain a transmission is that it is responsible for taking all the power from the engine and delivering it to the wheels; sometimes front, sometimes back and at times all four. The bigger the engine, the larger and more powerful the transmission has to be. That is why GMC has created their own special line of transmission systems that are exclusive to their vehicles. They are big, powerful, and are mated perfectly with their massive engines.

It is called the Duramax Allison and they go in different cars. It is built through a partnership with Allison, the company that built the M1 tank.

  • 4 Speed Automatic (Overdrive)

Smooth, reliable, and built over the experience of millions of miles. Comes with a tow and Haul mode.

  • 6 Speed Automatic (Overdrive)

Built to be mated with the Vortec engine, it is built to handle and deliver serious power.
  • Hybrid Electronic (Variable Transmission)

Built for the Yukon, it has regenerative braking tech that generates and stores power.
  • 1000 Series 6 Speed Automatic (Overdrive)

Exclusive to the GMC Duramax diesel.

You can actually ask one of the dealers at the Cardinale GMC center if it is in the car you are looking at, shows you are an informed customer!

History of GMC

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016

GMC

Do you know about the history of GMC? It all started in 1902, when Rapid Motor Vehicle Company was started by Max Grabowski. Rapid trucks were one of the earliest commercial trucks ever manufactured. Max and his brother Morris, a businessman, had first built single cylinder engine delivery car which was not a success. Then, in 1902, they built a 15 horsepower engine with two cylinders, and they reorganized their company under the name ‘Rapid Motor Vehicle Company’. The company produced 75 vehicles and were sold over the period of few years. This company was later incorporated in 1904, and by 1908, William C. Durant, the founder of the General Motors Company, had bought up a lot of Rapid’s shares

In 1909, General Motors Company (GM) bought the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company along with the Reliance Motor Company. In 1911, GM merged Rapid and Reliance to form the General Motors Truck Company. In 1912 name ‘GMC Truck’ was first used at New York’s Auto Show. In 1913, Rapid and Reliance (trucks) formally came to be GMC truck line. In that same year, GM produced the first mass produced truck, of which 22,000 units were sold.

1916, General Motors Company was reincorporated and renamed as General Motors Corporation. The Chevrolet auto company, started by Durant in partnership with the Chevrolet brothers, and Delco products joined GM in 1918. In 1919, Fisher Body Company and Frigidaire also joined GM. GM is based in Detroit, Michigan. Finally, in 1996 the suffix ‘Truck’ was dropped from ‘GMC Truck’ and the vehicles manufactured under the GMC Division of General Motors LLC came to be known as GMC.

GMC Vehicle Safety Features

Monday, April 18th, 2016

GMC 3

Every GMC vehicle comes equipped with the best technology that provides safety and protection to drivers and passengers alike. Some of the safety features in GMC vehicles are:

Antilock Braking System (ABS) – depending on the model, GMC vehicles have 3-channel or 4-channel ABS. ABS controls braking so that sudden application of brakes don’t lead to wheel lockup.

Hill Start Assist – when your car is parked on an inclined plane, it will detect it and hold full braking pressure for 1.5 seconds while starting up, after your foot is off the brake pedal. This provides a safe start.

Intelligent Brake Assist – when it senses an emergency stop, this is an automated feature will apply a greater braking force even before the brake pedal is fully pushed down. This feature is available in the GMC Yukon and Sierra.

Diesel Exhaust Brake – Sierra HD models with the DURAMAX diesel engine come with this feature. The engine helps slow down the car by creating ‘negative torque’

4-wheel Power Disc Brakes – Acadia, Savana and Sierra HD models have 14-inch power disc brakes that use twin piston calipers to produce more power and torque.

Air bags – front-center, head curtain, seat-mounted and side-impact bags. The air bag system also includes dual-stage deployment and weight sensing technologies in most GMC vehicles.

Additional safety technologies:

Rear Vision Camera – the rear view is displayed on the car’s internal multimedia display.

Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Side Blind Zone Alert – these features help prevent crashes before they can occur.

Visit Cardinale GMC to see all of the safety features on GMC vehicles.
