GMC Terrain: The Most Practical Compact Crossover

Friday, January 30th, 2015

Aside from all the options that Terrain customers have when selecting the perfect Terrain model, they can choose between a 2.4L four cylinder V6 engine or the Denali 3.6L V6 powerplant. The standard model comes equipped with the 2.4L engine and offers the best fuel economy; both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and is offered in three distinct trim levels: the SLE, SLT and Denali; all trim levels offer packages with distinct features, such as automatic climate control, cloth or leather seating, programmable power lift-gate and much more. If having this many options is not enough for you, GMC also offers one of the hottest new stand out features for 2015 – the 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity allows any mobile device to connect wirelessly from inside and outside the vehicle. GMC Considering Adding New Rugged SUV to Model Lineup

Wednesday, January 28th, 2015

General Motors Co. is considering adding a rugged SUV to its GMC brand to compete with the Jeep Wrangler. The new model is expected to borrow a few styling cues and capabilities from the Hummer brand that appealed to off-roading enthusiasts. The U.S. market has seen a revival in SUV demand in recent years as models have become for fuel efficient and the economy stabilizes; on-top of that, gas prices have nearly dropped half in price which has proven to have a positive effect on SUV and pickup truck purchases. Although GMC has not approved the unnamed model to go into production, we can expect more information this year. If you would like to read the full article please click on the link below:

The Beginning of a New Brand of Trucks: GMC

Friday, January 23rd, 2015

GMC has become one of the most successful brands in the manufacture and sales of commercial motor vehicles. This brand is one of the few original American makes that has survived into the 21st century. The automaker has also been able to maintain its quality, value, dependability and performance. It was not until 1908 that William C. Durant founded the General Motors Company on September 16th and incorporated it in New Jersey. Later that same year Durant began to purchase stick in the Rapid Motor Vehicle Co., which he would end up gaining control of the year after and making it a General Motors subsidiary – reliance truck production moved from Detroit to Owosso, Michigan. Two years later, in 1911, General Motors organized the General Motors Truck Company (GMTC) to sell Rapid and Reliance trucks. That new company was located in Detroit. On August 1, of that same year, the GMC trade name was first used in the business of GMTC. GMC was an acronym for General Motors Company. Nine models of electric trucks were added to the Rapid line, ranging in capacity. 173 of them were built as Rapids before they were changed to the GMC brand in 1912. The Man behind the GMC brand and General Motors

Wednesday, January 21st, 2015

William Durant is considered to be an American Industry Genius whose vision to aspire arose from a population’s desire for freedom and mobility. Durant was born in 1861 and in this early 20s he was able to co-found the Durant-Dort Carriage Company, which went on to later become the nation’s leading producer of horse-drawn carts and carriages. A few years after that, he took a hold of the failing Buick Motor Company and transformed it into the nation’s largest automobile producer after four years. In 1908, Billy incorporated the General Motors Company with Buick as its foundation, followed by Olds Motor Works, Oakland and Cadillac. Three years later, Durant expanded once again – founding the Chevrolet Motor Company with Buick racer Louis Chevrolet. It wasn’t until 1911 that the first GMC logo was first used in the business of the new General Motors Truck Co., and trucks with GMC logos were first shown to the public at the New York Auto Show; actually they were Rapid and Reliance trucks with the GMC brand applied. By 1913, all were GMC brand. If you would like to read the full article please click on the link below:

GMC Trailering and Towing Capabilities

Wednesday, January 7th, 2015

The new 2015 Canyon showcases incredible thinking in the form of a truck. And the all-new 2015 Yukon elevates the SUV to a new level of refinement. Every GMC truck, crossover, SUV and van is designed specifically for trailering, with power, handling and convenience features you can rely on for long hauls and heavy loads. GMC first recommends that you choose the right hitch – choosing the right hitch and making the proper electrical connections affects how your vehicle handles, corners and brakes, and allows you to alert other drivers of your intentions. It is also important to equip your GMC vehicle with the proper trailering equipment. Heavy-duty cooling and extendable trailering mirrors will make your trailering experience smooth and easy. Lastly, GMC recommends that you use a weight-carrying hitch. This consists of a hitch ball mounted to a step bumper or draw bar, commonly used for trailering light and medium loads. Hitch balls are available in a range of sizes. It is important to make sure that the diameter of your hitch ball matches your trailer coupler and the at the ball meets or exceeds the gross trailer weight rating.
