Salinas GMC Drivers Take A First Look At The 2019 GMC Yukon
The 2019 GMC Yukon is a large, traditional truck-based SUV that seats up to nine passengers. It’s a great choice for larger families on the go or anyone who needs to transport lots of people. Customers of the Salinas GMC dealership report they appreciate the Yukon’s outstanding towing capability. The base Yukon comes with a nice list of features. The all-new Graphite Edition and Graphite Performance packages are perfect for buyers looking for an exclusive appearance.
According to the GMC dealer near Salinas, the 2019 GMC Yukon is available in three trim levels: SLE, SLT and Denali. Buyers have a choice of two engines. The SLE and SLT trims are powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine that generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, teamed to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Front-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is available with an optional single-speed transfer case. A two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing is available.
The Denali trim is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This block gets standard rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case. The Denali also gets a standard MagneRide adaptive suspension that increases road handling and ride comfort. This suspension is optional on the SLT trim.
The automotive experts at Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com wrote: “If you want a full-size, 3-row SUV with standard V8 power and seating for seven, eight, or even nine passengers, the GMC Yukon brings big size, big capability and big, handsome looks. Need all that, but even bigger? There’s the extended-length Yukon XL. The Yukon Denali, meanwhile, has near-Cadillac levels of refinement and premium features, including a 6.2-liter V8 engine.”
Buyers can choose from a number of option packages. The new Graphite Edition package is an option for the SLT trim. It comes with special 22-inch wheels, blacked-out exterior trim and an exclusive suspension. The Graphite Performance Edition is also offered for the SLT. It includes the 6.2-liter V8, the 10-speed gearbox and magnetic ride control.
The 2019 GMC Yukon was designed with passenger comfort in mind. The driver and passengers have ample space to stretch out. Keeping everyone even more relaxed are options such as heated second-row seats and ventilated front seats.
Technology features that come standard include a backup camera, an 8-inch touchscreen that connects to your smartphone, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a Bose stereo system with eight speakers, and OnStar communications. A rear-seat entertainment system is available.
Safety is an important aspect of every vehicle, and buyers can be confident when traveling in the Yukon. The optional Trailer Sway Control keeps you in control when towing a heavy load. GMC's Enhanced Driver Alert package transforms the Yukon into an even more secure family hauler. Lane-keep assist keeps the Yukon from drifting out of its lane, while the forward collision warning system with low-speed automatic braking alerts the driver when a vehicle ahead is slowing down. Automatic high beams are standard, and the upper trims can get the optional blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert.
